I opened up & answered some of the questions about myself that y’all submitted through Instagram so here we go!
How did you meet your husband?
My husband and I met while we were in college at Arizona State University. Super thankful for his persistence, the kid asked me out several times before I finally agreed. 😉 I’m also quite the sales woman since I moved to Chicago after graduation and somehow convinced him to come with. We’ve been together for 8 years now and officially married since September 2018.
What brought you to Chicago & then to Houston?
I moved to Chicago after college because I wanted to live in a “big city”. I know that sounds silly since I’m from Houston and it’s the 4th largest city in the US but I wanted that walk around downtown and take public transportation experience that Houston doesn’t really have. (I know, public trans… woof). I was between NYC and Chicago and decided to go visit Chicago (I had never been) during the summer and line up some job interviews while I was there. I ended up getting a job AND an apartment all in a long weekend soooo I felt it was a true sign that it was meant to be. A girlfriend of mine was already living there and her current roommate was moving back home that same summer. Timing could not have been more perfect. I never thought I would stay there for as long as I did but I always knew I wanted to be close to family and long term be in warmer weather. Sorry Chicago, you cold AF. It was one of the best experiences and I would highly recommend living in different cities throughout your life! We’re in Houston now but I’m definitely not opposed to a new adventure in another new city!
How can you travel so much?
I get this question a lot! Although it may seem like I’m always on the go, I do have a full time job. I honestly do not take PTO days unless it is to travel. The thought of using a PTO day to just do nothing makes me cringe. My husband and I both love to travel and we’re always thinking about the next place we want to visit. Usually, it’s a long weekend where we fly out Thursday night and take just a Friday off. If we plan a big trip overseas, we plan ahead and make sure to save up all of our days so that we can make that happen. You definitely can’t travel that far and only have a long weekend!

Where are you traveling to next?
Next up, San Fran! I know I was just there but that was for work so I didn’t get to explore too much and plus I didn’t get to bring Noah! He is by far my favorite travel buddy, even though he makes me wake up super early and stay out alllll day seeing all the things, I am always thankful we did at the end. He already has quite the itinerary planned but if any of you have any suggestions please send them my way!

What’s your favorite place you’ve traveled to?
This is a tough one! So many places have such special memories and have all been great in their own way. The place that comes to mind as a top fav is definitely Paris. I love how romantic the city is, filled with beautiful architecture and all the things to see plus all of the great shopping… def helps. The food & wine was pretty damn good, too.

Why don’t you eat meat?
Almost two years ago I saw a documentary regarding the meat industry in the US. After watching, it sparked my interest in the industry and I did some more investigating. I won’t get into too much detail because I know a lot of you do eat meat and that’s fine, just not for me. After doing some research, I saw things that I simply can not un-see and just can’t go back. I love animals too much and they go through unimaginable suffering that I can’t support. Like I said, I won’t get into too much detail but I’ll leave it with this quote, “If slaughter houses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian.” Ok, back to more upbeat things like shopping! YAY!

Favorite local shopping in Houston?
If you haven’t noticed by now, I have a bit of a shopaholic problem… but it’s ok. The first step is recognizing the issue and I completely do but you know what? It brings me joy and according to Marie Kondo or whoever, you’re supposed to keep things that bring you joy, right? Fun fact: I hate doing things alone… except shopping. Weirdly, the only person I can really go shopping with is my mom and my favorite place to frequent is the Galleria. I know, it’s a shopping mall. BUT I love malls because of the options! Otherwise, my other favorite local spot is Rice Village. They have a bunch of cutesy shops that I love to bop in and out of.
If you could shop at one store what would it be?
Zara. My absolute favorite store and I would honestly own everything inside if I could. I don’t know what it is but they’re always changing their clothes and I can always find different stuff there at very affordable prices. Also, they’re worldwide sooo we can travel anywhere and always seem to spot one (Noah loves that moaha)
Nightly skin care routine?
Weirdly, I haven’t always had one until a few years ago. I used to live on Neutrogena makeup remover wipes…. As my only face wash…. I know. V bad. I recently invested in skincare and got a bunch of new, great stuff for the face! I linked all of my products here!
